THE CAUSE:
MEET SPENCER
Spencer and his twin brother Nathan were born on July 4, 1997. The rest of his family includes his two sisters, Andrea and Layna, mom, dad, and two wiener dogs named Lucy and Ethel.
At 14, Spencer has already made his mark in the world. He is strong, confident, kind and thoughtful. Spencer is outgoing and absolutely LOVES LIFE!!! He has the extraordinary ability to make everyone around him feel like they are the most important person in the world. Spencer finds the fun in any situation and includes everybody.
Born at a whopping 3½ pounds, Spencer entered the world with eyes wide open, curious about everything around him. Just after his birth we learned that Spencer had a heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot. Too small for surgery, he waited until he was 8 months old for his first heart repair. At 12 years old, Spencer underwent his second open-heart surgery, this time to replace his pulmonary valve. Every expectation was that the new valve would last for 8 to 10 years. Earlier this year Spencer learned that his body was rejecting the valve he received. The valve that was expected to last for ten years functioned properly for less than two. He is now awaiting his third heart surgery and second new heart valve. This life saving valve replacement will occur just after Christmas.
Spencer has never complained about his heart or the war zone of scars on his chest an abdomen. Ask him about his scars and he will tell you that, "Chicks dig scars!"
From our home to yours, we wish you a Very Merry Christmas, and a Healthy and Happy New Year!
